Barnsley have become the first club in Football League history to notch up 1000 wins at second tier level.

The Reds finally got the elusive 1000th win at the fourth time of asking, this afternoon in front of their home fans over Coventry City.

They were made to work hard for the victory however, with Eastwood cancelling out Nathan Doyle’s spectacular opener in the first half. Serbian Goran Lovre was on hand just before the hour mark though to slot home after a flick on from new signing Garry O’Connor and make Barnsley the first club to reach 1000 wins in the second tier of the Football League.

Sven Goran-Eriksson’s Leicester City are closest to the Reds, in second place with 961 wins, following their own 2-1 home win this afternoon over Swansea City.
