There can’t be much room in the squad for Lee Johnson to add to the Reds’ midfield options can there but when a talent like Dan Crowley, incredibly highly rated by all accounts, comes along you make an exception don’t you?

His loan arrival was announced on the Official Website this afternoon.

Crowley has come to Barnsley, signing from Arsenal – joining the likes of Man United loanee duo Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell – on loan until January 3rd.

Johnson not only feels Cowley is one of the best players in the country in ‘his age group’, he’s only 17, he also feels he’s one of the top talents in that age group in Europe!

He said.

‘I’m delighted to welcome Dan on board. He is an exceptional and exciting talent who is very highly thought of at Arsenal and we are extremely pleased that we have been entrusted with his further development.’

The Reds’ Head Coach also feels, when you take into account the Man United loanees we’ve secured and other players we’ve already got at Oakwell and been able to bring in too, we’re a club that’s viewed as one more than capable of helping develop young talent with opposition manager’s trusting Johnson and Barnsley to continue their development, adding.

‘This loan signing further evidences that Barnsley can persuade some of the country`s best young talent to come to us, even where there is stern competition. Undoubtedly, at just 17 years old, Dan is one of the best young players in his age group in Europe.

‘Dan has genuine, top-level skill and quality. I am delighted Arsenal have chosen Barnsley to aid the development of this exceptional talent, as well as aiding us in our pursuit of promotion.’

Another of those talented players we’ve brought in, and on a permanent basis this time of course from Fulham last week, was Ryan Williams. He’s shared some views on his move: Williams On Barnsley Return – Click Here.

Crowley sounds a real talent.

Inevitably he’s already being labelled the ‘new so and so’ with TalkSport the one to run with the ‘next Jack Wilshere’ line in regards to his arrival, which wouldn’t be unwelcome at Oakwell would it – he can leave the ciggies in London though!
