Barnsley chances of making it into the end of season play-offs were dealt a blow, possibly a terminal one, when we were beaten by South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United on Saturday.

Goals in either half were enough to see Sheffield United go away from Oakwell with a two-nil win that not only consolidates their place in the play-off zone but also ended the unbeaten record under Lee Johnson, more importantly saw us lose ground on the top six….

Sheffield United threatened through Holt, his header going close but with Scowen and Hourihane, from a freekick, having our best effort a goalless first half was on….Until loanee Davies (42) struck his first goal for Sheffield United just before the break with a header.

The points were made safe when Holt (71) struck from 20-yards with a little under 20-minutes to play.

Defeat means we stay in ninth place in the League 1 table but means we’re four-points adrift of Chesterfield in sixth place, who are now a further four behind Sheffield United so it’s literally one place up for grabs.
