Barnsley have admitted defeat in their attempts to lure Billy Sharp or Matt Fryatt to Oakwell and finances were not the problem.

The reds had the finances in place to bring in one of the duo on a short team deal but the players simply don`t want to come to Barnsley and are prepared to sit on the side-lines and wait until a ‘better` club come in for them.

It is no surprise really that players such as those have chosen to do this and just shows what Barnsley are up against in terms of player recruitment even when they do have the finances in place.

Reds boss David Flitcroft has not ruled out another approach for Sharp and Fryatt if their positions have not changed in the near the future but the chances of them coming to Oakwell are slim to say the least.
