Inter Milan are sitting eleven points clear at the top of the Italian league, Serie A. Barnsley however are hovering below mid-table in England’s second division, so how can we compare the two?

Technically speaking, Liverpool’s victory over Inter on Tuesday in the Champions League means that Barnsley have the capability to match the current Italian league leaders, but football doesn’t work on technicalities.

Although in fairness, Inter did play the majority of the match with ten men, after Materazzi was dismissed after he collected a second yellow card, so that puts a slight dent in the Red’s claim.

Another point being that Inter have several international stars in their line-up, including the likes of Ibrahimovic, Cambiasso, Stankovic and Crespo. Even though the Tykes boast several exotic names in their line-up, it would be fair to say that Inter may be slightly better?just.

One thing is for certain, a young ‘keeper by the name of Luke Steele has the potential to be comparable to Inter`s shotstopper, Julio Cẽsar.

There`s only one thing for it, Simon Davey should get on the blower to Inter`s manager, Roberto Mancini, and arrange a friendly for the summer.

  • Perhaps I should remind you guys that Burnley also beat Liverpool in the FA Cup a couple of seasons back, the year Liverpool won the Champions League! So lets have a four-way Euro Friendly Tournament-Barnsley, Burnley, Liverpool & Inter! 😉

  • What a stupid question to ask!!! You’ll be in league1 next season if you dont start picking up some results!!
