The transfer window has shut, the emergency loan one isn’t open yet; however this hasn’t stopped Barnsley from adding to the squad.

Simeon Jackson has been confirmed as a Barnsley player on the Official Website, which he was able to become as he was a free agent – obviously free agents, as long as they’re released before the transfer, can move at any time.

Jackson, formerly with the likes of Gillingham, Norwich and Coventry, has been on trial with the Reds this summer but this didn’t look to be going anywhere until his arrival was confirmed today!

Head Coach Lee Johnson, explaining the move, said.

‘He’s been with us from the start of the season and he’s been excellent. He’s been a good lad to have around the place and he’s a good finisher.

‘He’s somebody who’s got that experience of promotions and scoring goals at this level.

‘He gives us another string to our bow. It leaves us with four or five strikers to choose from.’

The Canadian international has signed a deal that will keep him, initially, at Oakwell until 3rd January.

At 28, and with a proven track record to be fair, Jackson’s still got a lot to offer and if he can produce what he’s capable of he’s got every chance of being a Reds player until the end of the season, at least.

Johnson has PLENTY of attacking options now doesn’t he!
