Barnsley boss David Flitcroft has admitted he failed with four loan bids to bring Jacob Butterfield back to Oakwell.
Norwich were reluctant to let him return to his former club opting instead to send him to Bolton and Crystal Palace before a permanent transfer to Middlesbrough.
Norwich felt that a return to Barnsley would not have been a good move for Butterfield. Flitcroft however is adamant he would have got him back playing to the standards that earned him a move to the Premier League.

sorry, but norwich`s logic doesnt make sence.it was playing for us that brought him to the attention of everyone, he was playing well, so how come making him play well again at Barnsley.wouldnt have been a good move ? i thought Houghton had more about him.thick sarth, i guess !!!
Your right it doesn’t make sense at all. On another point I think Butterfield made a big mistake leaving us when he did if his performance on Saturday is anything to go by. Saw the big money and moved too early in his career.
