Barnsley have today held talks with former striker Michael Chopra about a return to Oakwell.

Chopra is available on a free transfer following his release from Ipswich.

Signing Chopra would be a huge gamble for any club at the moment given his recent problems but Barnsley boss David Flitcroft sees him as the perfect partner for Chris O’Grady and a man capable of 15 to 20 league goals a season.

Barnsley face competition from Sheffield Wednesday for his signature as Dave Jones has publically said he would be interested in signing Chopra. The pair of them worked together at Cardiff so it could be a move that Chopra would prefer.
