Barnsley finally ended their long search for a striker by signing Norwegian international Marcus Pedersen on a season long loan from Dutch side Vitesse.

The 23 year old began his football career for home town club Hamar making his debut at the age of 15.

He went on to play for Norwegian side Stromsgodset scoring 23 goals in 43 appearances. His form there earned him a £1.2m move Vitesse in 2010 but injuries have hampered his time there which has led to this loan move.

Pedersen has also spent time out on loan at Valerenga and Odense where he scored 21 goals in 42 appearances.

On paper this looks like a good signing. A decent goal scoring record, an international footballer and has played in the Dutch top flight.

He may need a little time to settle in England and hopefully he will be the goal scorer that we so desperately need.

This could now conclude Flicker`s striker signings but don`t be surprised if another comes in. I`m told that the Barnsley boss still hasn`t given up on the likes of Fryatt, Lita, Sharp, Somma and McLean if a deal can be done.
