Subject to international clearance, Dimitri Cavare has joined Barnsley for an undisclosed amount from French club Rennes.

The full back has signed a two year deal with the Reds having the option of a further 12 months.

He first came to the attentions of the club when turning out for Huddersfield in a pre-season friendly against the Tykes at Oakwell and remained on the radar ever since.

Cavare was offered the chance to play in the Premier League and had other offers from across Europe, but having held talks with Paul Heckingbottom and Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye the former French U20 international opted to join the Reds.

His arrival clearly pleases Heckingbottom who was able to sell the clubs’ future plans to Cavare with the boss convinced his qualities will make him a success at Oakwell.

‘This is a fantastic deal for the Club and I am delighted have to secured the services of Dimitri. Everything I have seen of him has really impressed me, as well as many other Clubs around Europe. He’s listened to everything we`ve had to say and fully believes in our project here. Gauthier brought Dimitri to my attention and once we knew there was a chance of him joining us, it was a no-brainer. He`s come from abroad so we will integrate him into the Club and the local area, I look forward to working with him,’ Heckingbottom told the Official Website.

Now Cavare, 22, has been signed the chances have increased Andy Yiadom will complete own his transfer across Yorkshire to Huddersfield?
