Barnsley splash over a million on Hume

Barnsley manager Simon Davey has splashed the cash on Canadian international striker Iain Hume from Leicester City.

The Reds have paid the Foxes £1.2million for the twenty-four year old, as Simon Davey seeks to solve his side`s inability to convert chances in front of goal.

Tykes’ manager Simon Davey told the club`s official site:

“We have been tracking Iain all summer and I have been an admirer of him since his days at Tranmere. Iain is a big talent who, at the age of twenty four, is just starting to come into his prime”.

Hume made 44 appearances for Leicester City last season, netting eleven goals from an awkward wide position.

Davey continued:

“He is an ambitious player who shares our drive and ambition for success here at Barnsley FC”.

Born in Edinburgh, Hume arrived at Leicester City for three quarters of a million pounds and has made twenty two appearance for the Canadian international side.

Hume has penned a three year contract at Oakwell, keeping him at the club until at least the summer of 2011.
