Barnsley striker not going to Hartlepool

Barnsley front-man Kayode Odejayi is staying put for the time being as there is a striker crisis at Oakwell.

As well as Odejayi, only Jon Macken and Maceo Rigters are available for selection for the forthcoming clash with Ipswich on Tuesday.

With the Oakwell doormat looking unlikely to be worn in by fresh legs courtsey of the January transfer window, manager Simon Davey is reluctant to let the Nigerian go out on loan.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Davey said:

‘We’ve only got three strikers at the club who are fit, so I wouldn’t let him go.’

Odejayi joined from Cheltenham Town in June 2007 for £200,000 and each goal he has scored works out at £40,000 each. Work his tally out for yourself.

Kayode has come under immense criticism from the supporters over recent matches and has to score at least one against Ipswich on Tuesday along with an outstanding performance to convince the Oakwell faithful he deserves a shirt.
