It’s being reported today that Barnsley are attempting to sign Oxford United goalkeeper Simon Eastwood.

Sky Sports are reporting that their sources understand that there is a ‘serious interest’ in capturing the 28 year old this month from Barnsley and should a deal get done, it will be the first time the stopper has moved for cold hard cash and not as a free agent.

Eastwood has kept nine clean sheets in 32 appearances for Oxford so far this year, and he boasts over 100 appearances in total for them following his switch from Blackburn Rovers back in 2016.

Having been released by Huddersfield Town as a trainee, he spent time in non league football before coming back into the pyramid with Bradford. He also spent time at Portsmouth and his current spell at the Kassam Stadium is his second time at the club – although his first spell didn’t see him make an appearance for them.
