Sturm Graz midfielder Jurgen Samuel is said to be one of several players being eyed up by Barnsley boss Simon Davey.

Twenty-three year old Samuel is a full Austrian international, and came off the bench for his country against Poland on Thursday night.

However, Simon Davey will be battling with the likes of Hull and Birmingham if he decides to pursue his interest in the midfielder.

Although Strum Graz are hopeful of keeping hold of their captain after they offered Samuel an extension to his current contract.

Simon Davey will be returning to Oakwell on Monday for the start of pre-season training, where hopefully three or four new additions will be joining the Tykes ahead of the 2008/2009 season.

Meanwhile the Reds are still in the hunt for a prolific goal scorer, with recently linked West Brom front-man Kevin Philips apparently set to sign an extension to his current deal at the Hawthorns.
