Barnsley have recently been linked with yet another player you may never have herd of, Livingston striker Robert Snodgrass.

The twenty-year old is rumoured to be interested in a move south of the border, although Dundee Utd have offered the striker a deal.

Dundee Utd`s assistant manager, Dave Farrel, told the Daily Record:

“We’ve made Robert a good offer and hopefully he’ll see Dundee as the place to kick-start his career”

Snodgrass has also been linked with Crewe and Hartlepool, although a move to Oakwell should be more appealing.

Farrel continued:

‘There’s interest down south which is understandable as he’s a talented player. But we certainly haven’t lost hope and we’re waiting to hear back from him.’

The youngster has been a regular in the Scotland U19’s squad, participating in their European Championship Final in Poland back in 2006.

Robert was a vital part of the U19’s European campaign, and as a result was offered a trial at Spanish giants Barcelona. Unfortunately nothing came from this offer of a trial with the attacker eventually moving to Stirling Albion on loan.

With Snodgrass being quite young, and having never played at Championship level before, a bid to lure the striker to Oakwell would indeed be a very big gamble.

Hopefully Simon Davey has learned not to gamble on unproven strikers, Miguel Mostto, Kayode Odejayi and Kim Christensen all spring to mind.
