Barnsley are desperate to get back to winning ways when they entertain Burnley at Oakwell. The reds are on a miserable run and results need to improve fast as they get dragged towards the drop zone.

Vital Quotes:

Barnsley Team News:

Barnsley boss Keith Hill is set to pick the team from the same squad that was used in Saturday`s defeat to Cardiff. Hill however hasn`t ruled out changes to the starting line-up.

Craig Davies or Marcus Tudgay could drop to the bench as they are only recently back from injury and Hill doesn`t want any reoccurrences keeping them out for a long period of time.

Defenders Scott Wiseman, Martin Cranie and Jim McNulty all face a battle to keep their places after Saturday`s performance.

For me Akos Buzsaky has got to start following his impact from the bench on Saturday. And Stephen Foster HAS GOT TO be restored at centre half.

Player to watch: Buzsaky

Burnley Team News:

Dean Marney is suspended for Burnley who have former reds Shackell and Trippier in their ranks.

Charlie Austin is the big threat to the reds; he has 20 goals already this season.

Player to watch: Austin

Match Facts & Stats

This will be Keith Hill`s 300th match of his managerial career.

Barnsley have used 29 players so far this season, only Watford and Bristol City have used more with 30.

Scott Wiseman could make his 200th career start and Jim McNulty his 150th.

Barnsley and Burnley have met 63 times with Burnley having the superior record of 30 wins and 18 defeats.

Barnsley have lost only one of their last 15 home games to Burnley, winning nine.

Barnsley 2 – 1 Burnley (Davies and Tudgay for Reds, Austin for Burnley)

  • chiefred says:

I’d take that. We need to score at least two that is for sure ‘cos Austin is bound to get one.

  • OraStandFan says:

For me Foster has defo got to come back in, he’s been our best defender this season and i’m not sure why he was dropped in the 1st place.
we are not the best in the air but foster is the only one who can seem to win anything off a set piece at either end for us

I’m going 2-1 Reds as i cant see us keeping a clean sheet at the minute

Agree with what you say about Foster. He seems to have been made the scapegoat for some bad defensive displays but Saturday showed how bad we miss him. Wiseman and Cranie have done ok there but for me aren’t good enough in the air for centre back and there’s been a few mistakes from Wiseman lately. McNulty on last seasons form would be in but he was awful Saturday but has been out injured most of the season. Foster has to play today, I think Hill will bring him back and I have a feeling his back four tonight will be Stones, Foster, Cranie, Goldbourne. McNulty and Wiseman dropping to the bench. We will have to see if I’m right.

Very Happy with the lIne up. Team: Steele Cranie Golbourne Foster McNulty Greening Tudgay Buzsaky Mellis Noble-Lazarus Davies.

I cant see us getting beat tonight, If we defend set plays better then it could be 3 points.

  • chiefred says:

We didn’t defend corners again oldtime. 1 – 1 tudgay for tarn

  • Grimsby Claret says:

As I thought a tough place to go and get 3 points. Barnsley should pull away from relegation places. I notice your gates have droped by about 2,000 per home game, so have ours. what do you feel is the reason for this? (good away following from us last night though for a tues night game 1,047 Burnley fans at Oakwell)

  • chiefred says:

Hi there Grimsby Claret thanks for your comment.

Most teams that have come to Oakwell would probably say we should pull away from the relegation zone but despite competing against most times and having a lot of possession, how many chances did we create? We certainly lack a cutting edge in the final third. Add to that the sloppy goals we concede and fear it will be a tough a battle.

With regards to attendance. The initial reason is simply the price of match day tickets is too high. Add to that the poor results and fans just can’t be bothered to come down. What about yourselves why do you think yours have dropped?
