Barnsley’s season is almost over now, defeat against Chesterfield today would confirm this is the case and leave us ‘focusing on next season’ in our remaining games whereas our visitors could start thinking seriously about the play-off themselves.

Chesterfield have a firm grip on the sixth, and final, play-off place, and they’ll strengthen that if we can’t end the run of successive defeats we’ve been on when we meet at Oakwell today.

Lewin Nyatanga (eye) is a serious doubt for this one after he took a knock in our defeat at Colchester on Easter Monday. A ‘late decision’ will be made on his fitness with Crystal Palace loanee Peter Ramage poised to return.

Jean Yves Mvoto (groin) is also a doubtful again but aside from that Lee Johnson doesn’t have any other major issues to content with.

Chesterfield have won their last four so with Paul Cook not having to make changes it’s not likely he’ll make many.

Charlie Raglan, Ollie Banks, veteran Ritchie Humphreys, Dan Gardner, Armand Gnanduillet, Byron Harrison Dan Jones and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe could all be options to come in though for our visitors.

A fifth successive Chesterfield win and our play-off hopes are well and truly over, a draw and effectively it’s the same but a win will restore our faint hopes! But what way will this one go?
