Thankfully, unlike Sheffield Wednesday`s previous summer, the Reds will be welcoming a very different sea of blue to Oakwell this July, as thousands of Manchester City fans swarm to Oakwell to see their team play in the UEFA Cup.
Man City have confirmed their UEFA Cup home leg tie, which will take place on either the 17th or 31st July, will kick off at Oakwell.
The Man City staff were concerned that their turf wouldn`t have had sufficient time to recover from the previous Saturday where Bon Jovi are playing in concert at Eastlands.
Lets face it – the grass would have been no bed of roses, the groundsman probably said something like ‘it`s my life`, and surely Mark Hughes will be living on a prayer if he captures Ronaldinho this summer.
Its nice to hear that Barnsley`s ground reaches all the UEFA requirements for the match to go ahead, although it may prove difficult for Barnsley folk to get hold of tickets should they wish to witness some European football.

Thanks for your hospitality guys! Let’s hope we dont go down in a “blaze of glory”. We just need to “keep the faith”, and hopefully the match wont be like “bad medicine”, and that progression to round two will be like a “bed of roses”!
