Barnsley’s Away Woe

Goals from Tom Soares and James Scowcroft saw a wasteful Barnsley side off at Selhurst Park.

The Barnsley manager will be wondering how his side managed to go in at the break having not scored after two golden opportunities.

Kayode Odejayi is perhaps the guiltiest of all the Tykes players after blazing over from three yards. Another opportunity went begging when István Ferenczi scuffed his close-range effort straight at Julian Speroni.

The deadlock was broken a mere minute after the restart when Tom Soares fired a neat shot past Luke Steele.

James Scowcroft then wrapped things up for the Eagles after squeezing in a shot seven minutes from time.

The reds are now in 17th position in the league as things seem to be tightening up towards the end of the season. Sheff Utd are the next visitors to Oakwell and having won three on the bounce, the Blades will be looking to own the bragging rights come the end of next weekend`s game.
