Barnsley`s cup hero charged by FA

Barnsley ‘keeper Luke Steele has been charged by the Football Association for wearing an ‘inappropriate` item of clothing during two Coca Cola Championship fixtures last season.

The twenty three year old was apparently in breach of section B2(d), relating to the advertising allowed on players` clothing.

It is more than likely that Luke was unaware that the undergarment with a small ‘surridge` logo was not allowed. Steele was warned by the FA after seen wearing the item during his debut at Anfield in the 5th round of the FA Cup (helping the reds to a 2-1 win of course!)

However the former Manchester United youngster wore the undergarment again in two league fixtures against Hull and Leicester City.

Luke was Simon Davey`s first signing of the 2008/2009 season, signing from West Bromwich Albion on a permanent deal.
