With a 2-0 lead at the City Ground, Barnsley fans would be forgiven for thinking that after 50 minutes they were in dreamland.

It turned into a nightmare however in the space of thirteen minutes as the referee first handed Nottingham Forest the most dubious of penalty kicks, which Lewis McGugan duly converted to drag his side back into the game, before Nathan Tyson pounced on a loose ball in the Barnsley box to level things up with just 9 minutes remaining.

Matt Hill had given Barnsley a deserved lead on 17 minutes with a cool finish when one on one with Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp.

The Reds proved it was no fluke just five minutes into the second half when Andy Gray headed home an excellent cross from Kieran Trippier but the officials did their best to ensure that the 3 points were not heading back to Oakwell with Barnsley.

A terrific performance from the Reds deserved so much more than a solitary point, with them hardly having put a foot wrong thoughout the game but human error or perhaps something a little more sinister from the officials has robbed them of their prize today.
