Barnsley will not make a bid for Bury striker Andy Bishop despite the Tykes boss being in a hunt for a goalscorer.
Reports had linked Barnsley with a £400,000 for the Shakers’ top scorer but Simon Davey is currently on a scout-hunt in Spain for a hitman.
The striker has banged in 58 goals for the Shakers in 128 appearances since a move from York City in 2006.
Ian Harrop, a Bury director, has also quashed rumours and says there has been no firm interest shown in leading scorer Bishop.
From the Bury Times:
“We have had no bids,” said Harrop. “It`s a wait-and-see scenario for us at the moment.
“We had a meeting with Andy on Monday, and he appreciates that we have offered him the best possible package we can put together, but it is not neccesarily a financial thing.
“Andy may be looking at playing at a higher level.”
Barnsley are currently being linked with Tenerife striker Nino in the Spanish second division.
