Bobby Hassell, Barnsley`s longest serving player has been rewarded with a benefit year next season.

Hassell has been at the club for nine seasons now however, the benefit year doesn`t necessarily mean that he will be getting a new contract.

No new contracts will be offered to players until towards the end of the season when the club knows where their future lies.

The only player to be offered a new deal is Reuben Noble-Lazarus as the club are looking to tie down all of their young and potentially profitable rising stars.

Stones, Digby and Rose all of long term deals and getting Noble-Lazarus signed up is next on the agenda.

Barnsley could however be tempted to sell Stones during this transfer window with reports that scouts from a number of Premier League clubs were at Oakwell to watch the young wing back last night.

The possibility of a return for Brian Howard could be over. Bradford have offered him a contract that will begin immediately despite the fact that he is injured and still has about three weeks before he is fit again.
