Barnsley hit the self-destruct button allowing Ipswich to bang in two goals in the space of two minutes.

Despite Simon Davey having his team in for double training sessions it certainly failed to show in the opening ten minutes.

Alan Quinn almost sent the visitors into the lead after five minutes as his 20-yard drive had Muller scrambling. Tommy Miller had a great chance from a 19-yard free-kick but fired straight into the wall.

The Tractor Boys were in front on eight minutes, and deservedly so after some sloppy defending from Barnsley. Kevin Lisbie did well on the left to find John Stead who drilled home a neat twelve-yard strike.

Bogdanovic was trying hard despite having not played since last November and bearing in mind the Maltese international was carrying a tight hamstring. The 28-year-old did have half a chance but planted his header just over Richard Wright`s crossbar.

Things got worse for the Reds only two minutes after conceding the first, Barnsley allowed Ipswich a gift of a goal. Dennis Souza`s indecisive defending allowed John Stead to beat the Brazilian and the advancing Heinz Muller to the ball, the ball trickled over the line for 2-0 on ten minutes.

Only two on-target efforts came for the Reds in the first half, the most threatening of which was a Leon strike from 25-yards comfortably dealt with by Wright.

Some harsh words must have been hurled out in the Barnsley dressing room at half-time as the Reds came out of the blocks in the second half.

Diego Leon was replaced by youngster Jacob Butterfield at half time. It was later revealed that the Spaniard had sustained a minor strain to his leg.

It took only three minutes of the second half for the Reds to show their renewed determination as Daniel Bogdanovic managed to sweep home a half-cleared ball. It was a natural instinctive finish for the debutant and hopefully there will be many more to come.

Barnsley were showing a little more urgency and a rare volley from Bobby Hassell tested Richard Wright from the edge of the box.

The Reds` vigour dropped and allowed Ipswich back into the game despite Jim Magilton`s men seemingly happy to sit back and soak up the Barnsley pressure.

Hassell had another half chance just before the hour mark after good work by Anderson but the full-back shot wide of the target.

Stead was denied a hat-trick as the former Sheffield United striker fired straight down the throat of Heinz Muller before Butterfield replied with a close shot just over the bar.

Just after claims for a penalty on Maceo Rigters were waved a way, Daniel Bogdanovic flashed a tight-angled shot just onto the roof of Richard Wright`s goal.

It was the striker`s last action of the match as the board was hoisted to replace him with Kayode Odejayi.

Barnsley let the fans down yet again as they suffered a fourth defeat on the bounce. The silver lining was debutant Daniel Bogdanovic`s first goal for the Reds and also Barnsley`s first goal of 2009.
