Former Barnsley midfielder Jacob Butterfield could be returning to the club in a one month loan deal.

Butterfield left Barnsley for Norwich in the summer but has struggled to break into the Norwich team following injury last season.

Norwich are keen for Butterfield to go out on loan to get some games under his belt and return fit to press for the first team.

Keith Hill`s immediate attentions are towards bringing in a striker but he is also interested in the possibility of bringing Butterfield back in the short term to add some creativity and fire power to his struggling team.

If Barnsley can get him in even for a month then he could help turn fortunes around and he could easily fit into the same midfield as Mellis, with the reds likely to go with one front man, despite what previous boss Mark Robins thinks.

My only worry would be his lack of games over the last year means that he might not be the player he was for Barnsley last season which is why he isn`t even making the Norwich bench.
