The Kiwomya name is well known to Barnsley, Alex’s father Andy played for us – in fact he made his debut in football for us and his uncle is former Ipswich and Arsenal man Chris.

Alex Kiwomya came to Oakwell last month to get his first taste of football with the Premier League leaders agreeing to an initial one-month spell, which was due to expire today, but an agreement has been reached with Chelsea to keep him for a little longer.

With his first month going well, and the 18-year-old starting three-matches for us, an extension for another two-month has been agreed.

The forward will now stay with us until March 3rd, which makes complete sense as it give’s Kiwomya the first-team experience he wouldn’t otherwise get so it’s a win-win for all concerned.
