In fairness though you’ve got to say it’s the right approach for Conor Hourihane, and the rest of the squad and those connected to Barnsley to take isn’t it?

However, you can’t help but afford yourself a little bit of ‘getting carried away’ can you as we’ve seen an amazing turnaround and recovery this season!

After playing his part in the win over Coventry, to take us level on points with them and ‘on the brink’ of a play-off place, Hourihane was keen to keep emotions and expectations in check.

Fresh from his key role in the two-nil win he told the Official Website

‘It was obviously a good result and it`s good to go level on points with them. It was a good 2-0 win with the clean sheet as well especially in the second half with their counter-attack but it was pleasing. We`re on a good run but like the old cliché we`re taking things one game at a time and everything we`re doing at the minute is just a bonus and hopefully we can carry that on against Walsall.’

With only goal-difference alone keeping us out of the top six to say it’s been ‘a good run’ is perhaps an understatement from the midfielder isn’t it with him saying this has come about through ‘a lot of work on the training ground.’

At this point in time ‘things are going for us’ yet he pointed out just a few weeks back we were ‘taking it one game at a time’ when in the relegation zone so we’ll continue to do that now.

Do the players think about making the play-offs?

He finished by playing down such talk saying the only focus is on Walsall this weekend, stressing no one is getting ‘carried away.’

‘Last year there was some talk about it but this year inside our dressing room there has been no talk about it whatsoever. I think we picked it up quickly – quicker than a lot of people would have thought – but the spirit around the camp is high and we appear to be gelling at the right time given all the changes we had in the summer. No one is getting carried away in the dressing room at the moment given the run we were on earlier this season, there’s just lots of happy faces in the dressing room.’

Without a doubt a sensible and wise approach from Conor.

But I think someone’s telling a little porky or two as the play-off thoughts MUST have crossed the minds….even if it’s only a bit!
