At half time on Easter Monday it was looking good for Barnsley, we looked set to recover from the Sheffield United defeat with a much-needed win at Colchester…. Then came the second half!

Three goals in the final half an hour meant that Colchester came from behind to give their League 1 survival hopes a boost whilst all but end our chances of making the play-offs this season after the three-one defeat at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

As a goalless first half looked on a Waring (40) goal, from a Hourihane freekick, meant that things changed and it was one-nil to us at the interval.

Shortly after we threatened a second, and just past he hour, Massey (62) got onto the end of Murphy’s cross to make it one-one then with 10-minutes to play he turned provider to set up Murphy (80) to head home to make it two-one.

Colchester wrapped up the points with four-minutes to go when Massey set up Moncur (86), who did the rest.

Defeat leaves us seven-points adrift of the sixth and final play-off place, the only realistic position we can catch, so the play-offs are over now really aren’t they?
