After being released by Barnsley at the end of the season, young striker Michael Coulson has found himself a new club in Conference side Grimsby Town.

The 22 year old spent the last few months on loan at the east coast side from the Reds after finding first team opportunities at Barnsley hard to come by.

Injury has plagued the young attacker’s Barnsley career since he was signed from Scarborough in 2006 by Andy Ritchie, but he has been involved in many of the Reds’ high profile games, including an appearances at Wembley and against Chelsea in the F.A. Cup in 2008. He also scored in the 3rd round against Blackpool to take the Reds to Southend in the next round.

It’s unfortunate for Coulo that he has to move on but he will be much happier playing first team football rather than kicking his heels in the reserves at Barnsley. He moves to Blundell Park with Vital Barnsley’s best wishes, having made 25 appearances in a Tykes shirt, scoring 2 goals.
