Skipper Martin Cranie has called on the squad to finish the season on a high when we ace Rochdale at the weekend in the final fixture of 2014-15.

In quotes carried by the Star as well as talking about meeting up with his former gaffer Keith Hill again, Cranie talked briefly about his own future with his contract up come June.

‘It would be nice to finish the season on a high. We`d like to go out with a win and finish in the top half, that would be a good achievement for us considering where we were in the table a couple of months ago. We flirted with the play-offs after a good run, but we`ve also not won in our last nine games, so a win would be great.’

With the return of former gaffer Keith Hill on the cards to Oakwell this weekend, Cranie admitted he was a bit sad to see him leave when he did, so he’s pleased he’s been doing well at Rochdale, but he doesn’t want to see him leave a happy man following this fixture.

‘It will be nice to see Keith again. He was the manager who signed me and I was sad when he left. But I`m glad he`s doing really well at Rochdale. It seems like him and the club are a perfect fit.’

As for his own future at the club with his contract situation, the paper say it’s unlikely he will be offered a new deal as manager Lee Johnson looks to freshen things up, and he confirms he doesn’t know yet what the future will hold.

‘I`ve been at Barnsley three seasons now and I do feel settled here, so I don`t know what`s going to happen. But I`ll probably end up sitting down with the manager at the end of the season and discuss my future. Whatever happens I`ve loved my time here. Flicker (David Flitcroft) gave me the captaincy at the start of last season and I`ve loved it. It`s been a great honour.’

The paper goes on to say that as they understand, centre back Lewin Nyatanga is the only out of contract player to have been offered a new deal.
