Many Barnsley fans are questioning whether Danny Wilson is the right man to take Barnsley forward after the reds failure to stay in the Championship.

For me Wilson is the right man. His record of having teams challenging at the top end of league one suggests that there is no one better and surely the last thing we want is yet another manager.

However I can understand why some fans have questioned Wilson with the way things went following his arrival.

His January signings were awful. On paper though, most looked good ones they just didn`t work out. It was always going to be a gamble with such a big turnover in January though wasn`t it?

He made mistakes in letting go Perkins, Dagnall and Wiseman. A number of players tried and failed to secure a place in the centre of the park alongside Dawson which Perkins would have made his own.

Too many times O`Grady had to be played as a lone striker when had Dagnall been here he would have been a certain partner.

Right back was perhaps the biggest problem with Hunt poor, McLaughlin injured and Kennedy, Cranie and Etuhu being forced to play out of position.

Also his style of play was dreadful, tactics negative and substitutions poor. He certainly wasn`t the manager that I remember from his last stint here.

In the defence of Wilson, he did make us more solid and harder to beat and gave us a fighting chance of staying up when it looked like we didn`t have one.

He has already spoke of wanting to play easy on the eye attacking football next season and I believe the only reason he didn`t this season is because he felt that he didn`t have the players to do so.

I also think that our all round play could improve if O`Grady is sold as the temptation to hit it long to our target man stood on the left wing won`t be there. It might not be the case but I am pretty sure he is going to be sold anyway, the question will be if his replacement is the same sort of striker or not.
