Davey Expects Victory

Simon Davey has admitted that Tuesday night’s 6-0 thrashing at home to Wigan Athletic was ‘unacceptable’ despite the superior finishing on display from the Premier League outfit and insists that his side now have a point to prove when the take to the pitch in their final pre-season fixture tomorrow.

Speaking to the club’s official website the Barnsley boss said, ‘Preseason is all about fitness and getting minutes on the pitch… …it’s important to get minutes on the pitch and to bed in some of what we want to do.’

Despite tinkering with the formations and line-ups so far this pre-season, Davey has stated that Saturday’s match will show as close as possible, what to expect from the Tykes when the season starts. The Tykes have almost a full squad to select from for Saturday’s game, with Luke Steele expected to recover from a hamstring strain and Heinz Muller and Anderson De Silva well on the way to full fitness following their long term injuries.

Saturday’s match at Oakwell against Cheng Du Blades kicks off at 3pm
