Barnsley manager Simon Davey was last night delighted to see his giant German ‘keeper back in action for the reserves.

Muller came through 83 minutes of Barnsley’s reserve team draw with the Millers, and Simon Davey claimed Heinz’s kicking was ‘better than ever’.

Davey told barnsleyfc.co.uk:

‘Heinz got through 83 minutes and it looked as though he’d never been away. He is a little stiff today because he has not done so much kicking but it was a big thing for him to get through a game. He was coming for crosses and his distribution was excellent. If anything his kicking was better than ever.’

Heinz’s knee was seriously damaged in the Red’s 1-0 win over Colchester Utd at Oakwell back in January. But the Red’s faithful will too be delighted with the return of their favoured shotstopper.

Simon continued:

‘Mentally it was a massive hurdle for him to overcome. I am not saying he is ready for the first team yet and we will work with Heinz until he thinks he is ready to come back and play.’

So things can only get better for the Reds, with the imminent return of Muller and also the recovery of Anderson de Silva.
