Reds manager Simon Davey gave his thoughts following Barnsley 0-0 draw with Southampton at St Mary’s.

Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

‘We have come away from home and it is good to get a point although we had a great chance to win it late on. We have a clean sheet and a lot of positives so we have something to build on.’

Two changes were made to the team that lost to Cardiff in midweek, both Heinz Muller and Anderson de Silva have just recovered from serious knee injuries. But the two came thorough today’s game unscathed:

‘Anderson (De Silva) came through his first game well; Heinz (Muller) also did well for us. We have a point and something to build on next week.

‘You would put money on Iain (Hume) scoring then. He was in the right place and got there and I am sure he will do the same next week but it will go into the net.’

‘Clean Sheet’

‘It is a clean sheet and we will go away with a point. We could have had all three. I thought tactically we played it spot on against a good passing side. We contained them well and looked to hit them on the break.

‘It was a professional performance although we are a little disappointed not to have the win. We made changes to the team today because we had to change our luck’.
