Simon Davey is hopeful of bringing in two new players this season.

The Barnsley boss has already added four new players to his ranks as he looks to bolster his squad for the 2008/2009 campaign. Although the Welsh gaffer revealed he was close to adding new blood to his Barnsley side:

In an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, Davey said:

“We were close to signing a striker last Friday but unfortunately for us it never materialised.’

The Reds narrowly missed out on brining former England International Kevin Phillips to Oakwell in the Summer, but Davey is keeping an eye out in the transfer market.

‘We are always on the lookout for new players and hopefully I can add one or two more.’
