Simon Davey gave his thoughts follwing his side’s 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Davey told the media at the post-match press conference:
‘It was thoroughly deserved. We were the better side from the off. It could have been three or four at half time.’
The Reds went in at the break a goal up thanks to Iain Hume’s fourth minute strike.
Davey continued:
‘The lads were brilliant. They showed everything today, they can play and they worked their socks off.’
Tony McMahon was sent off in the 34th minute after a very dangerous lunge at Rob Kozluk:
‘It was a definite sending off. I got a bit heated because I thought it was a bad tackle. If he’d have caught Kozzy (Kozluk) it could have caused some damage.’
Jamal Campbell-Ryce celebrated signing a new conract at Oakwell with a goal to cap off a bright display against the Red’s South Yorkshire rivals and Davey is looking to keep the momentum going for the visit of Bristol City on Saturday.
