Deadline Day Deals

Here`s a look at all of the deals at Barnsley on deadline day.

Out
John Stones to Everton for a fee believed to be £3 million. Stones has signed a five and half year contract at Everton and I would like to wish him all the best in his career. The fee is decent for the amount of games he has played and based on potential which I think he will fulfil and if he does then Everton have got themselves a bargain.

Matt Done to Hibs on loan until the end of the season. Done has found himself out of the first team picture and this deal will benefit both parties. Either Done will return to form and play a part for Barnsley next season or he will be sold to Hibs.

Rob Edwards to Shrewsbury on a one month loan. Don Rowing has said this move is to get the defender some match fitness so he can return for the crucial run in. I think most fans no better than that and that Barnsley are doing all they can to try and get him off the books permanently.

Collins & Mido both released. Neither likely to play for the club again so good business from Barnsley. The only question fans will be raising is why sign Mido in the first place, although there were no objections when he first arrived.

In
Rory Delap on loan from Stoke until the end of the season. He will bring some experience to a Barnsley team starved of leaders and experience. I originally thought he was being brought in as midfield cover for Dawson but Don Rowing has said he is the replacement for Stones. Wiseman and Hassell will not be happy. Having said that a wing back role would possibly be a bit too demanding for Bobby now but Delap is even older. Hopefully we can put his long throw to good effect even though we only have three men who are any good in the air.

Chris O`Grady on loan from Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season. Another striker in was needed to give us more options. Hopefully now we have enough fire power to keep us in the division.

Andrai Jones. The young defender will complete his move today and join the development squad to begin with following his contract expiring with Bury.

The good news of the day – Luke Steele is still a Barnsley player.
