General Manager Don Rowing has said on BBC radio Sheffield that Midfielder Jacob Butterfield has to make up his mind today whether or not he will sign a new contract with the club or leave.

Barnsley boss Keith Hill is keen for Butterfield to stay at the club but thinks the possibility is unlikely with the lure of the chance to sign for a Premiership club.

Barnsley`s recent activity in the transfer market would suggest that they expect Butterfield to leave, following the signing of Jacob Mellis. However if Butterfield has yet to be offered a contract with another club he may decide to opt for another year at Oakwell. That may just be wishful thinking on my behalf.
