Signed in January 2009, Daniel Bogdanovic has fast become a fans favourite at Oakwell and it’s no surprise looking at his stats.

So far since his arrival the Maltese international has made 36 appearances for the Reds and has scored 12 goals for a strike rate of 33.3%.

Going back to and including the Reds players used in the Permiership promotion season and afterwards, this puts Daniel 4th behind Neil Shipperley on 35.2%, Michael Chopra on 40.5% and Ashley Ward on 41%.

These stats are based on total appearances and goals for the Barnsley first team since and including the 1996/97 season but do not take into account the number appearances that occured as a substitute.

If we look at Daniel in comparison with his colleagues when they have started games he is actually even better, coming in third place with 43% (12 goals from 28 starts) to Jan Aage Fjortoft on 50% (13 goals from 26 starts) and Georgi Hristov also on 50% (22 goals from 11 starts).

In conclusion, we appear to have one of the greats on our hands and should do our utmost to keep him at the club.
