It’s being reported that Barnsley have failed in another bid for a player today.

Carlisle United have apparently confirmed that they have rejected a written offer for us for midfielder Kyle Dempsey.

Whilst there has been no talk of the size of the offer, it’s expected that our rejection will no begin a scramble for the talented 19 year old who made 47 appearances for the club in 2014-15, with a return of eleven goals.

Barnsley apparently also had an offer rejected back in the January window for him.

The speculation is this offer was in the region of £300-400,000.

Carlisle managing director John Nixon is quoted by the Cumberland News as saying.

‘We have received an official written offer from a League One club for Kyle and we have kept the player informed along the way. We spoke to the manager and the player about the approach and I can confirm that we have turned the offer down.’

This rejection comes after manager Lee Johnson confirmed that our approach for Barnet’s Andy Yiadom was dead, and following that announcement he hasn’t been additionally linked to us.

In outgoing news, defender Mason Holgate is being linked with a potential £1million move to Premier League side Aston Villa.

The 18 year old fullback made 22 appearances across all competitions for us in 2014-15, scoring once, and Tim Sherwood’s side are one of a few being linked to the youngster given the potential people believe he has.
