There’ll be yet another familiar face at Oakwell this afternoon as the Reds take on the Bluebirds. Michael Chopra returns from suspension to face his former club Barnsley this afternoon, looking to reclaim third place from Swansea and maintain his place at the top of the Championship scorers chart.

Chopra spent a season on loan at Oakwell in League 1 in 2004/2005. Although the Reds didn’t pull up any trees that season, Chopra enjoyed a great campaign after a slow start.

In all he scored 17 goals in 39 appearances, including two hat-tricks but it wasn’t plain sailing at first for the Newcastle born hitman who scored just one in nine at the start of his campaign and was sometimes booed off the pitch.

He won fans over, however, and by the end of the campaign, supporters were pleading for the club to make an offer to sign him on a permananet basis.

Another Bluebird who used to wear the Red of Barnsley is Stephen McPhail, who won’t feature against the Reds due to injury.

Contraversial ex-Reds chairman Peter Ridsdale will also be gracing the directors box at Oakwell once again.
