Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Ashley Fletcher in the two all draw with Colchester United at the weekend at Oakwell was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Fletcher was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Fletcher struck twice in Barnsley’s 2-2 draw with Colchester United, and his double could prove invaluable for the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off chasers. The point leaves the Tykes in the coveted sixth spot ahead of next weekend’s daunting trip to the champions-elect, Wigan Athletic.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Fletcher for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course keeping the Play Off dream alive.

Full Team:

Will Henry (Swindon Town), Scott Golbourne (Bristol City), Mark Hughes (Accrington Stanley), Byron Webster (Millwall), Billy Bodin (Bristol Rovers), Hamza Choudhury (Burton Albion), Jay O’Shea (Chesterfield), Yanic Wildschut (Wigan Athletic), Gary Hooper (Sheffield Wednesday), Ashley Fletcher (Barnsley), Scott Hogan (Brentford).

Manager – Sean Dyche (Burnley).
