Former red out on loan

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of fromer reds favourite Adam Hammill on loan from Wolves until the end of the season.

The 24 year old joined Wolves in the January 2011 transfer window but has been limited to just 23 appearances at Molineux.

Hammill began his career at Liverpool but joined Barnsley without making an appearance for the merseyside club.

Before coming to Oakwell he also had loan spells with Dunfermline, Southampton and Blackpool.

Does this news show that highly sort after Championship players should not jump ship at the first sign of premiership interest?

Yes the money is often too good to refuse but careers can be stunted by such moves.

It is hard to know when the time is right but a lot of palyers would benefit from moves a little bit later in their career, allowing them to develop more. So when they do get that Premier League move they can also secure regular first team football.
