Lee Johnson has already made moves to bring players to Barnsley he previously worked with at Oldham and rumour has it from the Oldham Chronicle he’s looking to reunite Jonathan Forte with Conor Wilkinson?

Johnson signed Forte, formerly with Scunthorpe and Sheffield United, from Southampton as Oldham manager and now he could bring him to Oakwell to link up with Bolton loanee Wilkinson once more, as they did at Boundary Park under him last season.

According to these reports a deal ‘isn’t complete’ for the striker, who does still have a year on his contract, but it’s understood ‘a small fee would be involved if it goes ahead.’

The striker did score 15-goals in 37-matches last season, which is a really good return and most of his goals came under Johnson I think.

But, and he is the but from me, my concerns would be that he did suffer some injury problems too and his initial burst of 11-goals in 13 appearances was followed up by only another four in his next 24!

I’ll always back Johnson’s judgment and back his moves but would have slight reservations about this move for the 28-year-old, assuming it even happens….

Another that could happen, but will require a trial first, is a move for Frickley Athletic striker Reece Thompson?

The Hemsworth & Southelmsall Express reports the 21-year-old, following a trial with York that ended with them keen to sign him but not matching the Frickley valuation, will spend a week training with us from Monday.

He’ll then look to impress Johnson into giving him a contract too!
