Barnsley`s club captain Stephen Foster has earned himself a new deal with the club and will no stay at Oakwell at least until the summer of 2012.

The 29 year old skipper has made 121 appearances for the Reds since joining in the summer of 2007 from Burnley and has now committed to the club for the next two years.

The news is sure to be welcomed by Reds fans who were let down by their erstwhile captain Brian Howard in 2008 when he flitted off to local rivals Sheffield United for a wage increase but then ended up battling against relegation with Reading. Funny how things turn out.

Leadership and loyalty are high on the agenda for any Barnsley captain and Stephen Foster leads by example. Brian Howard could learn a thing or two.
