At long last, Barnsley’s latest signing Emil Hallfredsson has received international clearance to start his Oakwell career.

The season-long loan signing from Serie A side Reggina Calcio signed the contract at Oakwell a week ago but missed out on both the Coventry City game and the Preston North End game because the clearance had not been received.

It has had Reds manager Simon Davey tearing his hair out over it day by day and the Welshman was outspoken about it in his interview with barnsleyfc.co.uk on Thursday afternoon, calling the situation ‘laughable.’

Davey explained to the club’s official website that: ‘the Italian F.A. seem to only have one old lady working in the office at the moment and if we push her she won’t even get it ready for Saturday.’

However, 24 hours later, clearance has come through and the Icelandic midfielder is free to pull on a red shirt and face the Foxes at the Walkers Stadium tomorrow.
