According to Sky Sports, the rumour of the clause in Adam Hammill’s contract, enabling him to leave Barnsley for the meagre sum of £500,000, is true.

Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Blackpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers are the clubs rumoured to be interested in the winger, but Sky Sports reported that no club as yet has been prepared to stump up the £500,000 in one lump sum and until they do, Hammill is going nowhere.

They do however believe that Hammill is happy to join Molineux, if the clause can be met by Wolves.

This of course adds fuel to the fire, started yesterday by Mick McCarthy’s presence at the Barnsley V Coventry nPower Championship clash.

Opinion amongst the Oakwell faithful is divided on the clause in Hammill’s contract, with some believing that £500,000 is a good price for a winger unproven at Premier League level, whereas others believe that Barnsley were foolish to allow such a clause to exist.

Without the clause, however, Barnsley may not have been able to get Hammill in the first place.

What do you think?
