Barnsley saw off highflying Wolves at Oakwell on Tuesday night and assistant manager Ryan Kidd puts this down to the fact that Barnsley had the better work rate as they overpowered Wolves: “It was a good performance from us tonight and we’ve got to take that forward. We overpowered Wolves.

“We passed the ball well and the work-rate was amazing considering the amount of matches we’ve played.

“The lads worked their socks off. They know they must keep doing that because there’s pressure on places in the team. It’s a good place to be at the moment.”

Istvan Ferenczi had the easy task of tapping home for the Barnsley winner early in the second half after an unusual attempted clearance from Karl Henry found its way to him.

Heinz Muller, the much-coveted goalkeeper by many Premier League clubs then saved an Andy Keogh penalty to ensure Barnsley a fourth straight home win to keep them in touch with the play-off places.
