Bobby Hassell has spoken of his delight at finally getting his testimonial arranged against former club Mansfield Town.

With 299 appearances for Barnsley building on his 181 for Mansfield, Hassell spoke to the Official Site to confirm his delight at what he knows will be a special occasion to mark his tenure at both clubs.

‘It’s taken a lot longer than I would have expected or hoped. I’m thankful to the current manager for letting it happen during his pre-season. I know it’s probably disruptive to what he wants to do so I really appreciate that. I appreciate the Club giving me the day.’

Hassell went on to say that hopefully there would be a lot of fans in attendance from both clubs as it will be a nice and ‘great’ way for him to say goodbye to both sets in a proper manner.

Having recently returned from India where he now plays and coaches for Bharat FC, he went on to say.

‘Whilst I’ve been away there have been people texting me about the game and asking me. I’d like to thank Darren Hayes and Bruce Dyer for sorting out the game whilst I was away. It’s all go-ahead and I’m really thankful to everyone for it.’
