It’s being reported this evening that Barnsley head coach Paul Heckingbottom could be appointed as the new Leeds manager within 24 hours.

Speculation about a potential move, despite agreeing a new deal at Oakwell last week, surfaced as the evening continued but a short time ago the BBC were reporting that they ‘expected’ an announcement within the next 24 hours as long as there was no issue with his contract.

The 40 year old succeeded Lee Johnson as gaffer following his departure for Bristol City and it will come as a huge blow to the club given the January window we had, his new deal and how he seemed to be at home with his success of guiding us into the Championship via the Play Offs and our Wembley Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win.

Leeds are without a gaffer following the sacking of Thomas Christiansen and it’s thought Heckingbottom was on a shortlist of three.
